You will be a part of the Materials Innovation team which brings together world-class experts to develop and ship groundbreaking products at the intersection of hardware, software, and content. The team has a clear mandate to ship products at scale. They build seemingly impossible products that define new categories that advance their mission of connecting the world. This team has the responsibility for taking breakthroughs and delivering them to market at scale.
We are looking for someone with the ability to test, verify, analyze, and report out the broad spectrum of materials to consumer products at scale. We are looking for slightly impatient individuals willing to face down their fear of failure to accomplish bold things.

In This Role, You Will
- work on test and characterization of materials in a laboratory setting.
- Use fundamental materials engineering principles to design test setups to measure properties (mechanical, optical, chemical, and physical) of materials.
- Prepare sample coupons for testing
- Work with vendors/suppliers for sample, part collection for testing when needed
- Work cross-functionally with engineers to design innovative characterization techniques when needed
- Analysis of test data (use of statistical tools; JMP preferred)
- Documentation of results and report out
- Present findings to materials engineers and help interpret experimental results
- Work with vendors to commission new laboratory equipment
- Work with vendors to maintain and upgrade existing laboratory equipment
Skills And Requirements
- Undergraduate or Master's degree in Materials Science/Engineering and experienced with Polymers, Composites or Metals
- Experience with DSC, TMA and/or Capillary rheology
- Experience working in a lab environment
- Background in mechanical testing
- Strong, proactive communication style, ability to work cross-functionally and be a team player - Strong understanding of product development landscape
