Responsibilities
About This Role
- Prepares cost estimates for manufacturing products or services.
- Computes cost estimates for manufacturing/operations activities.
- Develops make or buy analyses utilizing available cost data history and/or vendor quotations.
- Works with engineering and shop personnel in determining designs that ensure the most efficient method of manufacturing.
- Supports proposals with audits and negotiations, as needed.
- Should cost estimates and/or recommendations.
Qualifications:
- Detailed knowledge of mechanical and electrical fabrication and finishing methods and equipment.
- General knowledge of company procedures and methods of operation.
- Knowledge of military and commercial specifications.
- Written and oral communication skills which support cooperation with proposal personnel and support organizations.
- Ability to utilize sketches, drawings, bills of material, prototypes, specifications, and bid requests to determine manufacturing cost requirements and levels of participation in programs.
- Ability to support final cost estimates in contract negotiations.
- Basic personal computer skills, e.g., spreadsheet, word processing.
- Ability to work well with others as part of the proposal team.
- Desire to continuously improve the estimating job function.
- Experience with DCMA and/or DCAA is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree preferred. Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering strongly preferred
- Two or more years' related experience in manufacturing fabrication, tool design, process planning or quality control
