Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer II performs independent assignments to develop and recommend improvements in the Manufacturing system and in product manufacturability and cost effectiveness.

Essential Functions

  • Study, analyze and design methods, procedures, processes, layouts, flow, fixtures and toolingas needed to support production
  • Investigate, recommend, and implement manufacturing cost reduction and product improvement programs
  • Identify root cause and corrective actions for manufacturing problems
  • Participate in customer specification and statement of work reviews
  • Participate in the review and evaluation of new product designs or design changes
  • Review and analyze design change requestsinitiated by manufacturing personnel to determine feasibility, validity, savings, effect on design, andtoverify justification for change
  • Evaluate, test and select facilities, equipment and materials required for productionin conjunction with Production Supervisors, Purchasing and other groups
  • Perform a variety of cost analyses, e.g., cost estimates for quotations or "make or buy" decisions
  • Develop manufacturing operating instructions
  • Develop and track manufacturing metrics to monitor the health of processes
  • Evaluate non-conformances as part of the Material Review Board
  • Direct work activities ofproduction operators to aid in problem solving
  • Develop procedures and train assemblers and operators in machine operations, processes or assembly applications
  • Coordinate with vendors and customers
  • Identifyand prioritize work with limited input from manager
  • DevelopROI or business case and present to management in the support of capital equipment, new product or process development and productivity improvements
  • Any other task assigned by supervisor or management

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience:2 years ofexperience asaManufacturing Engineer
  • Knowledge: Practical applicationknowledgeof the theories of modern production principles and methods as applied to a high technology electronics design and manufacturing operation;Basic knowledge of material characteristics and processing, chemicals; Basic concepts ofelectrical systems, mechanical systems, fluids, and heat transfer
  • Skills/Abilities:Able to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Education/Certification:BA or BSdegree inMechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or related field

Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment

  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment
  • Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limitedtoeye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE
  • May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes
  • Must be availableto work overtime, as needed
  • Flexible work schedule to support production

Standing: up to 100% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task

Lifting (in pounds): up to 25 pounds

Pushing (in pounds): up to 50 pounds

Mental/Visual: use of microscope and computer

Salary range: $100,999.00 - 117,575.30. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
