Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
The responsibilities will consist of fundamental equipment and process improvements to support Optical Fiber Manufacturing through involvement on a few key projects and production support activities in a specific process area. Objectives for the production support and projects will be clearly laid out, and the work will be in a team environment of engineers, technicians, and operators.
We are looking to have successful candidates start in January 2026. Please note, this is a 20 hours per week position.

Key Responsibilities
- Work with support groups and productions teams to coordinate and direct equipment installations, start-up, repair, troubleshooting, and process changes.
- Support preventative maintenance activities.
- Provide first, second, and third level troubleshooting of equipment/process issues.
- Troubleshooting and repair of Fanuc robots and automation PLC’s.
- Provide technical training for associates.
- Recommend improvements to process/equipment and drive equipment robustness.
- Leverage sound technical fundamentals to identify chronic issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment to drive equipment/process standardization and continuous improvement.
Required Skills:
- Technical curiosity and capability in discipline.
- Ability to build relationships, work in teams and interact withal levels of the organization.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information.
- Strong desire to learn and improve upon technical abilities.
- Results oriented with a bias towards action and continuous improvement.
- Currently working towards an Associate’s degree in one of the following programs:
- Mechatronics
- Electrical Systems
- Electronics
- Mechanical
- Engineering Technologies
