How You’ll Make An Impact
The Inbound Manager will lead a team of 2-3 people ensuring seamless movement of Carter’s inbound international freight. This position collaborates extensively with internal and external partners supporting operations and system functionality for accurate visibility. This role typically reports to Sr. Director of Global Transportation, has 2-3 direct reports and is based in our Stockbridge, GA Distribution Center work environment.

How You’ll Make An Impact
The Inbound Manager will lead a team of 2-3 people ensuring seamless movement of Carter’s inbound international freight. This position collaborates extensively with internal and external partners supporting operations and system functionality for accurate visibility. This role typically reports to Sr. Director of Global Transportation, has 2-3 direct reports and is based in our Stockbridge, GA Distribution Center work environment.
DAILY TRANSPORTATION OPERATIONS (80%)
- Analyze cost savings opportunities by making network changes and communicating to internal partners and external service providers
- Ad-hoc reporting for communication with internal partners and external service providers
- Manage day-to-day logistics for all Inbound shipments into the U.S., providing flexibility to internal customers with carrier options and transit times
- Manage all logistics providers and communicate business needs regularly and effectively to external partners to meet On-Time-In-Full goals and budget metrics and to improve global operating procedures.
- Support logistics strategies for entering new markets and reevaluating existing ones
- Drive innovation and efficiency through technology and automated processing to support increased scale while controlling spend
- Manage air quote process including quote requests and communication with internal partners. Collaborate with Finance for audit / invoice reconciliation
- Manage inbound-related charges and report monthly financial accruals and to identify any budgetary risks
- Act as liaison between Distribution and Planning to ensure daily operational set up and execution to provide visibility and accurate forecasting and to ensure the flawless flow of product
- Manage DC Bypass Retail induction into parcel network
- Daily use of Transportation Management System (TMS); subject matter expertise working in the Infor Nexus TMS system to identify, manage and escalate shipment risks
- Collaborate with Distribution and Planning, using TMS functionality and insights, to ensure daily operational excellence, global visibility, accurate forecasting and the reliable flow of product
- Effectively communicate business needs to external partners, such as Freight Forwarders, Carriers and Agents to improve global operating procedures
- Create and manage new or existing SOPs; utilize SOP materials to develop & grow the broader team
- Support internal divisions with various seasonal projects. This includes establishing a process providing visibility to the inbound freight, updating internal contacts and working with external destination delivery locations in the US and/or Canada
- Identify opportunities, develop business cases and work with Global Transportation Leadership to implement projects into overall strategy
- Utilize data analytics to develop enhanced logistics capabilities, performance and reduce costs
- Build a robust succession plan
Must Have

- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in transportation, distribution, or supply chain retail apparel
