Summary

- Purpose of this position:*Under general supervision, may perform some or all of the following: specimen collection, laboratory testing while evaluating, correlating, and interpreting clinical laboratory test results of moderate to high complexity difficulty. The Team Lead is responsible for assisting with the daily operations including, but not limited to, staffing assignments and technical duties as assigned.
- Collaborates with other sections/departments to create systems and problem solving for ongoing issues that impact patient care
- Must be competent in work areas as defined by their section and perform these duties the majority of the time
- Performs and monitors quality control processes, establishes and monitors quality assurance and recordkeeping systems
- Participates in quality improvement programs, including workflow efficiencies, according to standard operating procedures to ensure accuracy and validity of test results
- Performs calibration, maintenance, performance checks on instrumentation according to standard operating procedures, troubleshooting, and participates in the preparation and evaluation of maintenance schedules
- Takes a leadership role by assisting in the training/teaching of new staff members and/or student interns, participates in the completion of performance evaluations of staff, monitors daily supplies and equipment, participates in the selection of instrumentation/products, and administers proficiency testing programs and quality control programs for assigned discipline
- Assists in daily compliance for the accrediting and regulatory agencies and identifies areas for corrective action when deficiencies are noted
- Creates middleware rules and/or writes, updates, and reviews standard operating procedures
- Assist with goal setting, problem solving, resource management, change management and outcome achievement for their work areas
- Assists, with supervisor guidance, in staff scheduling, including identifying staffing needs and solutions
/Minimum Qualifications:/
- Bachelor's degree in medical technology or clinical laboratory science
- Completion of a CLS/MLS/MT training program approved by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS)
- Two years of clinical laboratory experience
- An approved equivalent combination of education and experience
- Five years of clinical laboratory experience

- Demonstrated ability to communicate to staff, the organization’s mission, vision and values and models essential behaviors
- Current certification as a Medical Technologist MT(ASCP), Clinical Laboratory Scientist CLS(NCA), or Medical Laboratory Scientist MLS (ASCP), or approved equivalent (HEW)
