Advanced Houston Specialty Hospital is looking for a Laboratory Technician to join a team of health care professionals in our newly renovated facility at 205 Hollow Tree Lane, Spring, TX.
Rate: $25/hr
The Laboratory Technician is responsible for collecting specimens, performing tests, and maintaining proper documentation to ensure compliance with hospital and regulatory requirements. The incumbent will oversee blood bank responsibilities, maintain transfusion records and logs, support audits, and participate in corrective action planning for laboratory-related incidents. This role also involves coordinating with outside blood banks, ordering and returning blood products, and the ability to work effectively in a secure and structured environment.
Essential Functions
Education And Experience Requirements
Associate's degree in clinical laboratory science or Basic Science OR three (3) years related training and experience. Current BLS certification required. ASCP/AMT or current ASCP(CM)/AMT(CM) certification preferred. MT/MLT preferred; ASCP/AMT/AAB registered candidates with experience preferred. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
Post Hire Requirements
Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements to include maintaining licenses, certifications, and passing an annual background check.

Essential Functions
- Performs, reports, and documents laboratory testing on patient specimens in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Maintains, calibrates, and troubleshoots automated laboratory equipment to ensure continuous, reliable operation.
- Conducts and records quality control procedures to ensure testing accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Oversees blood bank operations, including crossmatching, antibody screening, compatibility testing, and inventory management.
- Manages ordering, receiving, returning, and tracking of blood products and coordinates with external blood banks as needed.
- Maintains accurate logs and documentation for blood products, transfusions, and related activities.
- Reviews incident reports, implements corrective actions, and ensures complete, compliant documentation.
- Ensures accuracy of transfusion-related records, billing processes, and SOLIS charge reviews.
- Prepares for and supports laboratory audits and maintains supply, reagent, and inventory levels.
- Adheres to all safety, quality, regulatory, and National Patient Safety Goal requirements across laboratory areas.
- Maintains confidentiality and collaborates with leadership to resolve operational issues.
- Works independently, uses problem-solving skills to meet urgent needs, and supports departmental quality improvement initiatives.
