The work environment involves projects throughout the five boroughs, with a likelihood of being assigned to one borough on Parks Department jobs. Work hours are from 7 AM to 3 PM. Responsibilities
- Visit multiple sites daily based on workflow requirements.
- Manage and oversee contractors both on the streets and in parks.
- Communicate effectively with clients and contractors.
- Review contract line items and ensure compliance.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager to ensure adequate staffing.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed, including the use of PPE by contractors.
- Record and track measurements for pay items related to tree planting and excavation.
- Perform daily field reporting and construction oversight tasks.
- Associate's degree in forestry, arboriculture, horticulture, or a related plant science field, or construction project management and/or civil engineering with 2 years of related work experience.
- Bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience, or Master's degree with 6 months of experience, or 3 years of experience.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in civil engineering, construction oversight, and inspection.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Knowledge of plant species.
- Experience working with a landscaper for several years or summers.
- Vehicle availability for commuting.
