Responsible for conducting qualitative and mixed methods research to develop and evaluate information tools and systems that support clinical decision-making. Works collaboratively with the principal investigator and multidisciplinary research teams to understand user needs, design interventions, and assess the impact of health information systems. Conducts qualitative research including interviews, observations, and focus groups with diverse stakeholders. Analyzes qualitative data, synthesizes findings, and translates research into clear written outputs including manuscripts and grant proposals. Takes increasing responsibility for grant development and writing activities. Mentors and trains students and junior researchers in qualitative methods and research practices. Coordinates research operations while maintaining methodological rigor and alignment with lab priorities.

Required Education And Experience

PhD in Information Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Communication, Sociology, Anthropology, or related social science field OR Master’s degree in information science, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field plus minimum three (3) years of qualitative research experience OR Bachelor's Degree or higher in a related field plus minimum five (5) years of qualitative research experience with a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals. Related work experience should demonstrate expertise in qualitative research methods and academic writing.

Recent PhD graduate (within 0-3 years) in Information Science, HCI, or related field Experience contributing to or writing grant proposals (NSF, NIH, or foundation grants) Experience mentoring, teaching, or supervising undergraduate or graduate students Experience conducting research in healthcare, clinical, or medical settings Prior work with patients, caregivers, or healthcare professionals Demonstrated interest in health informatics or digital health First-author publications in relevant venues (CHI, CSCW, AMIA, JAMIA, JBI, etc.)

Compensation Range

$97,665.00 - $146,497.00 per year

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
