The Hardware Test Engineer is responsible for validating electronic hardware designs from early prototype through production release. Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for PCB assemblies, subsystems, and fully integrated electronic products.
- Design, build, and maintain hardware test setups, fixtures, and supporting test equipment.
- Perform functional, electrical, performance, stress, and environmental testing.
- Debug and troubleshoot hardware failures at the component, board, and system levels.
- Review schematics, PCB layouts, and design changes to improve testability and reliability.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts and tools to improve coverage, repeatability, and efficiency.
- Document test procedures, results, failure analysis findings, and corrective actions.
- Support design verification (DVT), production validation (PVT), and manufacturing bring-up activities.
- Assist with regulatory, safety, and compliance testing (EMC/EMI, ESD, thermal, safety).
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 3 years of experience testing electronic hardware in a development or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of analog and digital circuits, embedded hardware, and power systems.
- Proficiency with laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, power supplies, and DMMs.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, PCB layouts, and component datasheets.
- Hands-on experience with hardware debugging and structured root-cause analysis.
- Experience producing clear, technically accurate test documentation.
- Experience with test automation using Python, shell/command-line scripting, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with embedded systems and communication protocols such as I²C, SPI, UART, USB, and Ethernet.
- Experience developing manufacturing test solutions and supporting production environments.
- Knowledge of reliability and environmental testing methodologies.
- Exposure to regulatory standards such as FCC, CE, UL, or IEC.
