Laboratory Assistant
Position Overview
The Laboratory Assistant supports Laboratory Analysts by performing routine tasks that ensure smooth lab operations. This entry-level role typically pays between $18–$20/hour and is designed for individuals with strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn in a regulated lab environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in sample preparation and testing for various water types (groundwater, drinking water, surface water, wastewater, stormwater).
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, including cleaning glassware and organizing supplies.
- Support data entry and documentation in accordance with lab protocols.
- Handle hazardous materials safely and follow disposal procedures.
- Participate in weekly team meetings and assist with inventory and equipment maintenance.
- Basic understanding of lab procedures and safety standards.
- Ability to follow written protocols and maintain accurate records.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience with specimen handling or lab instrumentation is a plus.
- Fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
- May involve standing for extended periods and lifting up to 30 pounds.
- Clean zone protocols may apply (e.g., lab coats, safety glasses).
