Entry Level Engineer
Job Description
Join our team as a Junior Level Engineer in Tallahassee to support power distribution infrastructure upgrades and storm hardening projects across Florida. This position involves both field assessments and distribution design, contributing to essential improvements in the region's power systems.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field assessments including site visits, visual inspections, measurements, photographs, and writing field reports.
- Perform engineering calculations and design work to replace deteriorated cables, relocate overhead lines underground, reconductor existing distribution lines, and replace aging equipment.
- Utilize structural analysis, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, fault currents, and coordination of protective measures in design projects.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from a four-year ABET accredited college or university.
- Ability to work in the field 50% of the time.
- Interest in Power/Energy/Utilities.
- Proficiency in distribution design and power distribution.
- Knowledge of BOUD, Bentley Open Utility Designer, quality control, Smallworld, Maximo, Pole Load, AutoCAD, and survey field data.
- Experience or basic knowledge of concepts in the electric utility industry, including primary and secondary distribution systems.
- Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles.
- Ability to research engineering and design issues, evaluate alternatives, and prepare/present recommendations.
- Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation, initiative, and the desire to learn.
- Good written and oral communication skills for frequent customer interaction.
