Summary

HII-Mission Technologies is seeking an electronics engineer with thermal and mechanical experience to support our work with the U.S. Army Research Laboratory in Adelphi, MD. The selected candidate will provide technical expertise to perform Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) studies and analyses for Defense Systems. This includes Systems related to new and emerging technologies as well as development of mitigation strategies that can enhance military systems, subsystems, and components, particularly technology insertion and rapid prototyping to enhance the performance of legacy systems.

What You Will Do

  • Power Electronics Packaging and Testing
  • Package and prepare power MOSFET devices for evaluation, including verification of gate leakage, I-V curve behavior, and overall performance
  • Research, design, develop, and test
  • A variety of electronic equipment and systems, including radar and radiation detection equipment, power electronics; communications equipment and systems; circuitry components and integrated circuits; analog and digital computers, processors, field-programmable gate arrays (FPGA) and associated firmware; and control and test equipment.
  • Cross-Functional Research Collaboration
  • Work with interdisciplinary teams of mechanical, electrical, and materials engineers to prototype, test and analyze thermal solutions for cutting-edge military electronic hardware
  • Data Analysis
  • Conduct detailed analysis of thermal/electrical test data, prepare technical reports, contribute to findings to ongoing Army research initiatives.
  • Thermal Characterization & Transient Test Development
  • Develop and implement transient thermal testing techniques to assess thermal and electrical behavior under dynamic operating conditions - contributing to improved understanding of device heat dissipation pathways and reliability.
  • Advanced Materials Integration for Thermal Management
  • Integrate phase change materials (PCMs) into device-level experiments to quantify thermal mitigation benefits and evaluate their potential for high-power or high-pulse-load Army systems

What We Are Looking For: Minimum Qualifications

  • 0 years experience with Bachelors in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant experience.
  • Foundational understanding of I-V curves, integrated circuit power systems, semiconductor devices, and PCB-level hardware.
  • Additional specialized experience with heat transfer, thermodynamics, thermal-fluid sciences. Basic principles of thermal testing and electrical characterization.
  • Hands on experience with laboratory testing, instrumentation, device evaluation (to include thermal measurement, electrical measurements).
  • Ability to Obtain Secret Clearance

Preferred: Bonus Points For

  • A strong preference will be given to candidates with experience in performing transient thermal testing, and analysis of thermal-electrical behavior of semiconductor devices.
  • Hands-on experience with power MOSFET packaging, gate leakage verification, and I-V characterization. Knowledge of phase change materials and their integration for thermal management applications.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB, SolidWorks, nTop for analysis and design.
  • Active Secret Clearance
