Job Description

The Director for Special Events and Marketing will be responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of events that engage faculty, students, and community constituencies. Acting as lead strategist on all events and marketing initiatives in the Department of Medical Education. The Director will focus on project management, ensuring the successful delivery of marketing campaigns, digital content, and creative materials that support the department's goals; and lead the special events team on departmental, institutional and high profile events. The Director serves as the primary point-of-contact between the Department of Medical Education and the health system Departments of Marketing and Communications and Development/Special Events, ensuring collaboration and consistency across communications and marketing initiatives as well as fundraising and special events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing and Communications or related fields, preferred

Minimum Related Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in marketing, project management, or communications
  • Experience in higher education, or non-profit marketing is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in event programming, management and production

Qualifications/Skills

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with digital marketing strategies, social media integration, and website content management.
  • Proven history of creating new and successful programs,
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with attention to detail and quality control.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams and manage relationships with vendors, stakeholders, and internal teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Positive attitude, team player, sense of humor

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Marketing and Event Leadership: Provide strategic guidance to the Medical Education leadership team in developing and executing special events marketing and communication strategies that achieve stakeholder as well as departmental objectives and priorities and align with system priorities.
  • Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of special events and marketing projects across the department, including high profile student and faculty events, digital marketing campaigns, website content, and creative production. Coordinate timelines, resources, and stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget. Manage project risk and changes in project scope as needed.
  • Brand and Content Management: Manage the department’s brand attributes and values across all digital platforms, ensuring consistency in messaging and visual identity in alignment with the system brand guidelines.
  • Creative Direction and Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams, external vendors and creative agencies to develop and execute marketing collateral, including digital, print, and video materials. Ensure final deliverables meet objectives.
  • Conceptualize Creative events: Identifying the including the purpose, targeted audience, pricing strategy, key themes, location, timeline, and run of the show
  • Campaign Development and Digital Marketing: Coordinate with stakeholders to develop and implement digital marketing strategies to increase visibility and engagement for departmental initiatives. Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of campaigns, making recommendations for optimization.
  • Event Communications: Plan and manage communications for key institutional and department events such as Orientation, White Coat Ceremony, Graduation, and Match Day, ensuring on-time and on-budget communications materials are produced to meet event objectives.
  • Event Consultation: Serve as the in-house liaison for internal departments, faculty, and students planning both the on and off campus events to provide creative solutions and other support that results in more effective, efficient, and successful event outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Serve as the day-to-day contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding special events, communications and marketing projects, social media, and web content. Work closely with the Department of Communications and Marketing to ensure alignment with broader marketing initiatives.
  • Vendor and Resource Management: Work collaboratively with the Development Special Events Team and the Department of Communications and Marketing to identify and manage internal/external resources for creative and event services, including venues, catering, graphic design, video production, and photography. Collaborate with the Associate Director of Finance for Medical Education Administration to establish budget for events and marketing and ensure expenses align with the departmental budget. Manage contracts and ensure timely and high-quality deliverables.
  • Office/Staff Management: Hire and train all Special Events staff and ensure the stability of a positive and efficient event production team. Interface with students, faculty, and administrators. Work with the facilities team, in addition to many other departments, to oversee the success of activities/events taking place at the medical school. Supervise one staff member and lead the teams of event volunteers.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Track the performance of communications and marketing initiatives; provide regular updates to leadership on campaign effectiveness, project status, and key metrics.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Contribute to other departmental, system initiatives and special projects as needed, ensuring alignment with overall event management and marketing goals.

Compensation Statement

Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $86772 - $150000 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
