I. Job Summary

II. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Develops and implements company-wide environmental protection and compliance programs and policies.
- Builds Environmental Management Systems which focuses on preventing, correcting, and ultimately reducing potential environmental, regulatory and community impacts associated with our operational activities. These systems include but are not limited to programs that proactively assure compliance, communication of regulatory updates through alerts, self-inspection systems, and notice of violation and significant event tracking systems. Builds training programs centered around environmental performance and compliance with regulations and company standards.
- Develops key performance indicators to understand leading indicators of performance.
- Partners with field environmental protection leads and specialists to understand risks and build programs centered around these risks with a focus on integrating environmental functions into the core of our business.
- Partners with the Corporate Environmental Management group on landfill gas, air, groundwater, and stormwater/leachate management trends/issues.
- Partners with Compliance Audit Services to understand issues identified in audits and ensure issues are corrected on a timely basis. Integrates system-related risks into the broader environmental compliance strategy.
- Directs and manages internal and external (consultant) company resources in meeting program objectives.
- Designs and implements strategic project plans in response to more complex compliance and liability issues and problems. Responsible for interpreting environmental data, directly responding to NOVs or proposed Consent Orders, and commenting and directing responses to proposed regulatory rule revisions related to our areas of responsibility within the company.
- Organizes and executes routine communications with Area management regarding significant development projects as well as to ensure compliance and consistency with company-wide environmental protection programs.
- Monitors emerging issues in environmental regulatory requirements. Initiate and participate in developing the company’s response to new or changing regulations on a regional basis.
- Directs communication with local, state, or national stakeholders to discuss program or project objectives that meet WM objectives of environmental protection or performance.

- Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (B.S. accredited), or in lieu of degree,
- High School Diploma High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience.
- 10 years of experience in environmental compliance programs (in addition to education requirement).
