About Your Summer Internship Program

The Dollar Tree Summer Internship Program offers an enriching 10-week paid internship opportunity that takes place at our corporate headquarters in Chesapeake, Virginia. Interns will be immersed in a dynamic work environment where they will receive personalized mentorship and engage in professional development activities designed to enhance their skills.

Throughout the internship, participants will gain valuable hands-on experience in various aspects of our operations. Comprehensive onboarding will ensure interns are well-prepared from day one. Additionally, team-building activities will foster collaboration and networking among peers and leaders in the organization.

At the culmination of the summer program, interns will have the exciting opportunity to present their projects and insights, with the possibility of earning scholarships as recognition for their hard work and creativity. About Your Role

As a Corporate Communications Intern at Dollar Tree, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience at a Fortune 200 company by supporting our Corporate Communications department. You will be actively involved in initiatives across both internal and external communications, helping to shape the company's narrative for associates, the community, and the public.

Under the guidance and mentorship of experienced communications professionals, your role will involve:

• Internal Communications: Assisting with the creation, editing, and distribution of content for internal channels to engage corporate and field associates.
• External Communications & Public Relations: Supporting media relations efforts, including drafting press releases and monitoring company coverage.
• Content Development: Utilizing strong writing and editing skills to craft various communication materials, including articles, announcements, and key messages.
• Digital Engagement: Applying a strong understanding of social media platforms and potentially assisting with design and video editing for communications campaigns.
  
  

This internship is designed to provide you with practical experience across the full spectrum of corporate communications and prepare you for a successful career. At the end of the program, each intern will be responsible for a presentation centered on what they learned and a real-world challenge/opportunity they helped to solve.

Required Skills And Experience

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Strategic Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
• A superb storyteller with demonstrable writing and editing skills. Writing samples are required as part of the application process.
• Must be a confident communicator and presenter-both verbally and written.
• Tech savvy with a strong understanding of social media platforms and digital communication trends.
• Must possess excellent organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
• Strong time management skills with the ability to balance and prioritize assignments under a deadline.
• Design skills and video editing experience are a plus.
• Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach.
