Introduction

The IBM Storage Infrastructure Design Team leads the development of IBM's storage hardware platforms and media technologies. This includes defining and executing storage architectures, driving design and implementation efforts, conducting reviews, resolving technical issues, and collaborating with vendors and manufacturing partners. The team operates across multiple business segments to deliver innovative storage solutions. Engineers on this team are expected to bring a broad skill set spanning electrical, mechanical, software, firmware, and thermal design. Strong communication skills are essential, enabling effective collaboration with internal teams as well as external suppliers and partners to drive technical outcomes. Team members actively contribute to design decisions for both IBM-internal and externally developed products.

Your Role And Responsibilities

• Create plans and architecture for storage platforms using existing products and roadmaps.
• Collaborate with vendors on technical issues and development.
• Report on technical status to management.
• Drive technical solutions and guide IBM engineers and vendors.
• Collaborate with IBM Offering Managerment, Architects and staff to create cost effective and technological innovative solutions.
• Follow and update skills within new technologes and industry trends.
• Use customer feedback to drive to solutions that meet clients requirements.
• Be an active participant in the design and test process of storage platforms.
  
  

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

• Excellent understanding of Computer Architecture and Infrastucture.
• Excellent Analytical Skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
• Strong understanding of the interaction between Software, Firmware and Hardware.
• Undestanding of the fundamentals of electromechanical design.
  
  

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

• Understanding of Thermal Analysis and Thermal Design
• Understanding of the interaction between BIOS, BMC, CPLD and OS
• Fundamental level of understanding of Digital and Analog Circuit Design.
