Job Summary

We are seeking a Mechanical/Architectural Engineering Intern to assist our Global Engineering team (remote).

An Internship at Charles River Labs provides global, real world, hands-on experience for college students looking to gain knowledge and skills required for your career field of choice, while giving you an unparalleled internship experience. We are dedicated to ensuring our Co-op/Intern population can experience the ability to Grow, Perform, and Succeed during their time on board.

CRL is seeking an Intern student enrolled in a Mechanical or Architectural Engineering program - ideally with a focus on building design, building systems, and sustainability - to support our remote Global Engineering team.

The Engineering Intern will support the development, maintenance, and optimization of building and facilities-related systems. Responsibilities include assisting with equipment assessments, updating engineering documentation, collecting and analyzing system performance data, and collaborating with Facilities Engineering staff on projects involving HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and building automation systems. Additionally, the Engineering Intern will support ongoing efforts to develop and enhance the site facility analytics database and be engaged in data collection, manipulation, and results presentation. The Intern will work directly with the Charles River Labs Engineering and Sustainability Teams.

The role provides exposure to real-world facility operations, troubleshooting, and project execution in a fast-paced engineering environment. The position will provide opportunities to present to small groups in a safe and encouraging environment to help build on public speaking and executive presence.

Job Qualifications

The following are minimum requirements related to the Engineering intern position.

  • Student currently enrolled in an accredited college/university degree program pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Ability to fulfill internship position obligations based on summer break timing, potentially May - August
  • Effective communication and listening skills in a teamwork environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects with a strong attention to detail
  • Possess proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00 per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.

Must be authorized to work in the United States without a sponsor visa.
