Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Exceptional Children Special Education Teacher to join our vibrant educational community. In this role, you will design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities, including those with autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, and neurodevelopmental disorders. Your energetic approach will foster an inclusive classroom environment that promotes growth, independence, and confidence. You will collaborate closely with families, speech therapists, behavioral health specialists, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for each student’s academic and social-emotional development. Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute personalized lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards and tailored to individual student needs, incorporating instructional modifications and accommodations.
  • Implement evidence-based behavioral management techniques and behavioral therapy strategies to support students with challenging behaviors.
  • Conduct assessments and utilize standardized testing to monitor student progress, adjusting instruction accordingly.
  • Collaborate regularly with speech therapists, occupational therapists, counselors, and other specialists to coordinate services such as speech therapy, early intervention programs, and literacy education.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of IEP goals, progress reports, and behavioral data in compliance with special education law.
  • Engage in parent-teacher communication through conferences, updates, and workshops to foster a strong partnership supporting student success.
  • Integrate educational technology tools into daily lessons to enhance engagement and facilitate learning for students with diverse learning styles.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively while creating a nurturing environment that encourages social skills development and emotional regulation.
  • Support students’ transition from preschool or elementary settings through targeted early childhood education strategies.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development related to autism spectrum disorders support, classroom management techniques, curriculum development, and inclusive teaching practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification for special education or equivalent credentials recognized by state law.
  • Proven experience working with children with disabilities in classroom settings, including expertise in teaching students with developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorders.
  • Strong understanding of IEP development, special education law, instructional modifications, and behavior management strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with parents, colleagues, and other professionals.
  • Familiarity with educational technology integration and literacy education tools.
  • Experience working with neurodevelopmental disorders such as speech delays or communication challenges is highly desirable.
  • Ability to adapt lessons for diverse learners while maintaining high expectations for academic achievement.
  • Knowledge of early childhood education principles and preschool experience is a plus.
