Baker/Pastry Cook

Job summary:
Cook and prepare food according to planned menus, maintain clean and sanitary conditions in the kitchen and dining areas and responsible for all dessert preparation. 

Responsibilities: 

•  Use portion-control procedures; sanitize work areas, equipment, floors, dishes and utensils; check trays for menu and di-et preferences and accuracy; ensure proper storage of foods and supplies; adhere to universal sanitation precautions, and infection-control policies and procedures.

•  Prepare desserts and bread(s)for all dining venues. 

•  Plate and garnish desserts on plates and to-go containers. 

•  Prepare meals and snacks, in accordance with written instructions (menus) and verbal clarifications.

•  Ensure all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
 

Education and experience required:

•  Minimum of 5 years’ baking and pastry experience in a professional bake shop or must be attending or graduate of a culinary arts school; culinary degree preferred

•  Must be able to read and write English and to follow written and verbal directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job.

Possess a comprehensive knowledge of safe and sanitary food handling techniques.

•  Ensure that food and supplies are available for meals. 

•  Report hazardous conditions and equipment, accidents and incidents.

•  Review menus prior to preparation of desserts.

•  Basic understanding of how to read a recipe

•  Basic understanding of mixing methods, creaming, whipping, folding

•  Basic understanding of measurements, cups & teaspoon & metric

•  Inclusive knowledge of most common desserts and their execution but not limited to, German Choc., Eclairs, Black Forest, Napoleon, and/or Crème Brule, Flan

Schedule: Monday- Friday 1:00 AM to 11:00 AM

Pay: $20-$21 an hour
