- Answers telephones, responds to routine questions, sets appointments or routes calls to appropriate persons.
- Performs duties relating to students such as taking attendance, scheduling, resolving problems and other issues as they arise.
- Registers students.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Distributes mail.
- Operates standard office equipment.
- Compiles and distributes monthly and annual reports including staff attendance, student attendance and calendar of events.
- Receives visitors and students; answering questions; resolving student problems.
- Assists in the coordination of special events including graduation.
- Serves a confidential secretary to the administrator of the program.
- Maintains books for staff, student and building accounts.
- Prepare payroll.
- Makes and records deposits.
- Compiles count day reports, coordinates grade reporting, prepares school newsletter, and prepares employee and student accident reports.
- Maintains school/student records.
- Acts as liaison between school and community, administrator, staff and students.
- Coordinate and orient teachers and students.
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
- 3 β 5 years general office work and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A.A. Degree in office management or related field.

SUMMARY
This position is a full-time administrative assistant at Adrian Community Education Center. This program serves Alternative and Adult Education students. This position may also assist other buildings when necessary.
Serves as administrative assistant to the administrator of the program and as facilitator for the program by communicating information, problem solving, material acquisition, cash handling, and record keeping.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Administrative Assistant/Adult Ed reports to the administrator of the program.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as basic accounting, discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
Ability to operate office machines and personal computer and related software including word processing, spreadsheets and e-mail. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee will be required to speak clearly on the public address system. The employee is occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and depth perception. Occasionally the employee will lift up to 10 lbs. such as to lift files and paper.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
