Position: Housekeeping Specialist (Custodian) - Evening Shift

Classification: Full-time Hourly, Non-Exempt

ABOUT US.

Lenawee Christian Ministries provides Christ-centered education, spiritual development, and wellness services to the Lenawee County community, centered around Jesus Christ. The ministry is made up of two operating entities: Lenawee Christian School and the Christian Family Centre, located in Adrian, MI.

POSITION SUMMARY.

Responsible for performing custodial tasks to ensure the facility remains clean, safe, and well-maintained. This includes heavy cleaning, restocking supplies, disposing of trash, and potentially handline minor maintenance support, all while using chemical safely. This position is also expected to be observant and identify any needed repairs and communicate those accordingly to the Housekeeping Manager and Maintenance Manager. This position requires working the evening shift from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES.

• Maintains safe working conditions and practices
• Must know or learn the proper use of all chemicals used
• Maintain your vacuum cleaner, cleaning cart and other cleaning equipment in good order
• Must follow all cleaning schedules as posted
• The most important requirement in your assigned areas is checking and filling paper products
• Clean windows in assigned areas
• Sweep, vacuum, dust mop or wet mop floors in assigned areas
• Remove trash from assigned areas
• Dust all assigned areas at least weekly or more if needed
• Clean and sanitize restrooms to include cleaning mirrors
• Power wash showers and disinfect locker rooms
• Routinely power wash restrooms in assigned area
• Use riding floor scrubber if assigned area has tile floors
• You must complete all assigned areas before leaving your shift for the day
• Time management is of high importance
• Summer deep cleaning to include refinishing floors, carpet cleaning and top to bottom cleaning
• Familiarize yourself with MSDS sheets that pertain to chemicals we use
• Other duties as directed by the Custodian Manager

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• 1 year of prior custodial/housekeeping experience highly preferred.
• Should have some experience or training or working knowledge in the following areas:
  • Vacuuming
  • Mopping
  • Scrubbing
  • Floor refinishing
  • Carpet cleaning
  • Power washing
• Knowledge of, and comfort with, cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to carry 20 pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to stand and be actively moving for a full shift.
