Position Overview
LeMoyen is seeking dependable Production Workers to support our sawmill and wood-products manufacturing operations. Depending on the assigned area, employees may handle lumber, assist with mat production, support sawmill operations, prepare finished products, or move and stage material between production processes.
Successful Production Workers maintain a safe and steady work pace, follow instructions, identify quality concerns, and help keep material moving without unnecessary delays or waste.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle, sort, stack, stage, and inspect lumber and other wood materials
- Feed material into production equipment and remove completed material as directed
- Assist with the assembly, banding, packaging, and preparation of finished products
- Verify product sizes, thickness, condition, and pack consistency using a tape measure or other basic measuring tools
- Identify wane, damage, incorrect dimensions, and other quality concerns
- Monitor production equipment and immediately report jams, unusual sounds, mechanical problems, or unsafe conditions
- Never reach into or attempt to service moving equipment; follow all shutdown and lockout/tagout requirements
- Assist with production changeovers and routine operator-level inspections
- Use hand tools, forklifts, or other equipment only when properly trained and authorized
- Maintain accurate product counts or production information when assigned
- Keep work areas, walkways, and equipment surroundings free of wood debris and other hazards
- Follow all PPE, machine-guarding, material-handling, and site safety requirements
- Work cooperatively with sawmill, treatment, kiln, warehouse, and shipping personnel as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Dependable attendance and willingness to work in a fast-paced industrial environment
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Commitment to safe work practices and consistent PPE use
- Ability to perform basic measurements and math
- Ability to recognize and report product-quality or equipment concerns
- Ability to work effectively as part of a production team
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous sawmill, lumber, manufacturing, construction, or warehouse experience
- Experience using hand or power tools
- Forklift or material-handling experience
- Experience inspecting, stacking, banding, or packaging wood products
Physical and Work Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive production duties throughout the workday
- Ability to safely lift, push, pull, and handle production materials and tools
- Ability to work around moving machinery in conditions that may include heat, cold, dust, noise, and vibration
- Ability to wear required PPE and comply with all safety procedures
