REGISTERED BEHAVIOR TECHNICIAN (RBT)
Schedule: 8:30am-3:00pm, Monday-Friday

DEFINITION:
Under the supervision of the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), assists in implementing behavior intervention plans; evaluates student progress through data collection techniques and graphing; provides consultation and training to staff regarding assessing behavior functions, implementing behavior intervention plans, and data collection procedures; supports the equity work of the district through implementation of positive behavior interventions for students with special needs.
JOB RELATIONSHIPS:
Supervised by the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), under the direction of the Executive Director of Special Education & Student Services, provides coaching and support to school site staff, such as paraprofessionals and teachers; collaborates with IEP team members; collaborates with school site administrators to follow and uphold school site behavior expectations and procedures; provides data and records to be used by the students’ IEP teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Assists in developing and implementing behavior intervention plans along with systems to collect, maintain, and evaluate behavioral and observation data under the direct supervision of the BCBA.
- Assists in coaching staff in the effective implementation of behavioral and skill-based programs and data collection systems.
- Implements individualized instructional programs such as discrete trial teaching, social skills development, and/or behavior intervention plan, as designed by the BCBA.
- Collects daily progress data on assigned students and reports on that data to their supervisor and the IEP team.
- Graphs student data as needed to monitor behavior or skill-based progress.
- Teaches staff how to collect and graph data, follow and implement behavior intervention plans, implement student behavior trackers and token reward systems, or other behavior related strategies.
- Maintains and keeps student service logs up to date for each student for whom services are provided.
- Maintains RBT supervision log up to date and submits the log to the BCBA monthly
- Creates student reinforcement materials, token systems, visual supports, etc. as specified by BCBA.
- Conducts preference assessments and continually assists in identifying new reinforcement options that will be motivating for the student.
- Consults with IEP team members and other appropriate staff on a regular basis.
- Attends and participates in meetings and trainings as scheduled.
- Assists teachers with general supervision of students.
- Assists teachers with following classroom and school-wide positive behavior interventions and supports.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma, completion of approved BACB 40-hour RBT training, and a minimum of
two years of experience providing behavior analytic services.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid Board-Certified Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification.
- Valid California driver’s license.
- Valid First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Receive CPI certification within probationary period.
