Job Summary:
As a pharmacy technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring patients receive their medications accurately, safely, and efficiently. You will be responsible for managing specialty medication inventory, filling medication orders, and maintaining quality control through accurate recordkeeping and compliance with accreditation standards. This role is responsible for processing prescription and enrollment intakes, performing accurate data entry into pharmacy systems, adjudicating initial claims, researching preliminary claim rejections, and handling inbound communications from prescriber offices, including prescription clarifications and verbal orders. Your attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work collaboratively will help ensure that every patient’s order is fulfilled with care and precision.
Candidates are required to live in a commutable distance from the pharmacy. This position is required to be available to work onsite Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:30am and 5:00 pm MT, 8 hours per day for 5 days.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, review, and process new prescriptions and enrollment forms via fax, electronic systems, and phone.
- Accurately input patient demographics, insurance information, and prescription details into pharmacy systems.
- Perform initial claim adjudications and identify claim rejection issues.
- Research and document causes of rejected claims; initiate resolution steps or escalate as appropriate.
- Communicate professionally with prescriber offices to obtain prescription clarifications and take verbal orders, following legal and regulatory guidelines.
- Verify completeness and accuracy of prescription documentation and enrollment information.
- Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., coverage & access, patient care coordinators, fulfillment) to ensure a seamless handoff and continuity of care.
- Receive, label, and accurately fill medication orders under pharmacist supervision
- Maintain organized and accurate inventory of medications and supplies
- Conduct cycle counts and check for expired medications; notify pharmacist of low stock
- Clean and maintain workstations, equipment, and supply areas in accordance with safety standards
- Pack completed prescription orders for deliveries to patients
