This position is based in Teaneck, NJ and will report directly to the VP of Operations.
Position Overview:
The Sales Manager, Preowned is responsible for leading the commercial strategy, pricing, acquisition, preparation, and resale of Leica’s preowned, used, Code U, and obsolete product categories. This role requires expertise in sales execution, process development, inventory performance management, and cross-functional collaboration.
This individual will be the primary facilitator for ICO and partner stores, supporting the acquisition of preowned goods and training staff on Leica’s proprietary tools and marketplace requirements. They will also prepare eligible products from both the Teaneck facility and warehouse to be sold through the Leica Classics Marketplace and all other approved retail and wholesale channels, ensuring product accuracy, quality, and readiness.
Primary responsibilities include:
Sales Leadership and Commercial Strategy
- Achieve sales goals for preowned, used, Code U, and obsolete products, with strong emphasis on ICO Retail sales performance.
- Serve as the commercial lead for preowned categories — establishing price lists, creating pricing strategies, and taking products directly to market.
- Reduce inventory of closeout, aged, and obsolete products by targeting appropriate channels and dealer partners.
- Manage resale of used and vintage equipment to ICO stores and authorized dealers. Achieve sales goals of preowned products with focus on ICO Retail Sales Goals
Marketplace and Channel Operations
- Prepare eligible products from the Teaneck office and warehouse inventory for sale across all designated channels, including but not limited to the Leica Classics Marketplace, ICO stores, partner dealers, and online sales environments.
- Train Leica store managers on photography standards, listing requirements, and workflow for posting products to the Leica Classics Marketplace.
Acquisition Support and Pricing Expertise
- Support ICO and partner stores in acquiring preowned goods from consumers, retailers, and external sellers.
- Serve as the primary trainer and subject matter expert for Leica’s proprietary preowned pricing tool, ensuring consistent valuation across all stores.
Inventory Target Management
- Achieve inventory targets and maintain inventory losses below 2%.
- Monitor inventory levels of preowned, used, Code U, and obsolete goods — ensuring efficient sell through and healthy stock turnover.
- Maintain and order necessary items (straps, batteries, caps, etc.) to complete sellable product sets.
Operational Accuracy: SAP, Credit, and Support Functions
- Create and manage consumer accounts in SAP.
- Process consumer purchases and credit card transactions via PayTrace.
- Conduct research related to credits, including price protection claims, pricing discrepancies, and other financial adjustments.
- Issue UPS call tags, Return Authorizations, and manage associated workflows.
DOA and Customer Support
- Oversee the complete DOA (Dead on Arrival) process — from consumer communication to coordination of returns with Leica Germany.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales Operations, Finance, and Controlling to:
- Develop structured processes for selling and promoting preowned goods.
- Ensure accurate reporting and financial alignment.
- Maintain appropriate levels of preowned and Code U inventory.
Additional Responsibilities
- Manage the distribution of free-of-charge merchandise when required.
- Support continuous improvement of preowned product workflows and operational procedures
Required qualifications:
- 3–5 years' experience in sales, resale, retail operations, or inventory management; photography or luxury goods experience a plus.
- Proficiency in SAP, pricing systems, CRM tools, and inventory management software.
- Strong communication and training skills, capable of teaching tools and processes to store teams.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Understanding of product photography or willingness to learn Leica’s imaging standards.
- Ability to travel to all retail locations quarterly.
