Duties

The HR coordinator will report directly to the HR specialist and assist with the day-to-day operations. In addition to the duties described in the CUNY title overview, the HR coordinator is responsible for the following:

• Processes the onboarding of part-time employees, new-hire orientations, and audits for accuracy and I-9 compliance, and ensures all records are up-to-date.
• Provides information to hiring managers regarding processes and procedures.
• Maintains an understanding of policies, procedures, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements relevant to HR.
• Administrative and paperwork oversight for both electronic and paper files.
• Assist with the daily data input of position management related to hires, reappointments, revisions, and separations for hourly teaching and non-teaching instructional staff.
• Processes employment verifications and public service loan forgiveness.
• Maintains the budget in the Human Resources department and keeps up to date on current issues and matters related to HR.
• Troubleshoot any CUNYfirst issues and make corrections as necessary.
• Perform customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions
• Other duties as assigned
  
  

Schedule: Monday–Friday (Hybrid)

9:00 am-5:00 pm

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Excellent judgment, strong communication, and people skills
• Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and discretion with regard to all matters, data, and documents
• Detailed oriented, self-directed, motivated and proactive
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking aptitude
• Familiar with CUNY’s collective bargaining agreements for white-collar titles and psc staff is preferred.

• Prepares and executes various personnel transactions involving employee recordkeeping, processing of new hires, pay administration, and recruiting
• Maintains an understanding of policies, procedures, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements relevant to human resources
• Organizes and processes employee information; develops and maintains reports and queries; assures data accuracy and completeness
• Responds to requests for information; troubleshoots issues, follows up and responds to employee inquiries
• Assists HR managers with employee communications of all kinds; may prepare materials, conduct orientation sessions, or update web pages
