POSITION DETAILS
The Lehman College School of Business seeks an Associate Dean to provide academic, administrative, and leadership support for the School of Business’s day-to-day operations, mission, strategic goals, and commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. The Associate Dean will report directly to the Dean and, in collaboration with the Dean, department chairs, faculty, and staff, will oversee key academic operations and play a central role in planning, coordinating, and advancing the school’s mission and vision, particularly in pursuing initial AACSB accreditation.
The Lehman College of Business was launched in July 2022 and is the only school of business in a public academic institution in the Bronx, Westchester, and the surrounding area. It is home to
three academic departments that offer seven undergraduate and graduate degree programs, serving over 1,300 majors.
Key Responsibilities
Provide Academic and Administrative Support, and Leadership
This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.
A Ph.D. in business-related discipline from an accredited institution is needed. Must be a faculty member at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor with demonstrated research and
scholarship, and experience in academic leadership (e.g., department chair, program director, associate dean, or similar role). Must have academic department chairing experience for at least one elected term (or 3 academic years).
Experience with AACSB accreditation as well as prior industry or professional experience in a business-related field and working knowledge of experiential learning are required.
Must possess strong understanding of faculty roles, shared governance, and academic administration, and possess excellent organizational and communication skills.

Compensation And Benefits
Salary commensurate with education and experience, $140,000 -$150,000.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist the Dean in the overall day-to-day management and operations of the School of Business, including academic planning, budget, scheduling, faculty workload management, and course delivery.
- Support department chairs in curriculum development, program assessment, and self-studies.
- Participate in strategic planning and implementation of school-wide initiatives.
- Working also in collaboration with the Director of Experiential Learning, support partnerships with industry, alumni, and community organizations that advance the School’s mission, including AACSB-related goals.
- Assist the Dean in advancing initiatives related to external funding, grants, and philanthropic support.
- Represent the School of Business at internal and external meetings, events, and forums as needed.
- Serve on college-wide and university committees as delegated by the Dean
- Support the school departments and chairs with faculty recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, evaluation, and professional development.
- Promote a culture of scholarly productivity, teaching excellence, and engagement.
- Assist the Dean in developing and implementing an AACSB accreditation strategy and timeline.
- Support the Dean and faculty in accreditation-related activities, including data collection, reporting, and continuous improvement processes, as appropriate.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of systems that support assessment, planning, and evidence-based decision-making.
- Support assurance of learning (AoL) and program assessment processes to ensure effectiveness and continuous enhancement of academic programs.
- Promote curricular innovation, experiential learning, and alignment with workforce and employer needs, in collaboration with the Director of Experiential Learning.
- Support initiatives that enhance student recruitment, retention, progression, academic success, and career outcomes.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Dean.
