What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crisis Specialist position at Lehigh Valley Adult Services?
The Crisis Specialist (CS) will provide support and work with LVAS consumers during high-stress situations. The CS will also provide suggestions and pro-active intervention strategies to avert crises. The CS will respond to crisis and act as incident commander and primary point person for all crises.
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Deterrence from aggression, assault, violent acts, or other types of crime.
- Suicide prevention and prevention of self-inflicted injuries.
- Mediation with Staff and the Consumer.
- Proper documentation (Reports, Contact notes, MAR’s, and ISP’s etc.…).
- Behavior de-escalation and mental health assessments.
- Other duties as assigned.

Hours
- In-person, face to face basis. By phone only if appropriate to the crisis.
- Full time, possible weekends
Education and /or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with at-risk adults with ID
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals and work instructions. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Other Skills and Abilities
Must have customer service skills and the ability to work independently
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Current driver’s license
