Job Summary:
ISTs work under the direction of classroom teachers to provide in-classroom support and small group instruction for students. This position is full-time and requires a candidate who is flexible and willing to provide coverage for teacher absences. ISTs may work with students in regular education, special education, and ELL programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Classroom Support: Assist classroom teachers in providing instruction and support to students during class activities.
- Small Group Instruction: Lead small group instruction sessions to reinforce lessons and provide additional support to students who need it.
- Teacher Coverage: Provide coverage for classroom teachers during absences, ensuring continuity of instruction and maintaining a positive learning environment.
- Student Engagement: Foster a supportive and engaging classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and learning.
- Collaboration: Work closely with classroom teachers to understand lesson plans and instructional goals, ensuring seamless support for students.
- Student Assessment: Assist in assessing student progress and providing feedback to classroom teachers to help inform instructional strategies.
- Classroom Management: Help maintain classroom order and discipline, following school policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Interest in developing a career in education is required.
- Experience working with elementary school students is required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
