Lehigh Human Support Services (LHSS) is a growing organization serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) throughout the Lehigh Valley/Allentown Area.
Our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) provide compassionate, person-centered support to help individuals live fulfilling and independent lives. DSPs assist with daily living activities, skill development, community involvement, and personal goals while promoting dignity, choice, and inclusion.
No prior experience required — paid training is provided.

Requirements:
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess a valid driver's license, as DSPs transport individuals to appointments, work, community outings, and other activities using company vehicles.

Must successfully complete all required pre-employment screenings, including:
- Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check
- Pennsylvania State Criminal Background Check
- FBI Criminal Background Check (required if you have not been a Pennsylvania resident for the past two consecutive years)
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination and tuberculosis (TB) screening.
- Must be available to attend one full week of paid training (Monday-Friday, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.).
- Must have basic computer skills to complete documentation and use internal software.
- Must communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Direct Support Professional, you will:
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, including cooking, cleaning, laundry, personal hygiene, shopping, budgeting, and household tasks.
- Encourage independence by supporting personal choices, goals, and decision-making.
- Help individuals develop life skills and participate in community activities.
- Support individuals in achieving goals outlined in their Individual Support Plan (ISP).
- Prepare meals and provide assistance during mealtimes as needed.
- Transport individuals safely to appointments, work, programs, and community outings using company vehicles.
- Follow ISP guidelines, treatment plans, and agency policies to ensure individuals' health, safety, and well-being.
- Document daily activities, progress, and any concerns accurately.
- Administer medications according to each individual's ISP and treatment plan. Paid Medication Administration training is provided.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment.
- Attend required staff meetings and trainings.
- Report any suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation, accidents, incidents, or safety concerns according to agency policy.
- Communicate concerns to the House Manager or supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
