Substitute Custodian

Position Description

Position Title:             Substitute Custodian

Qualifications/Certification:

1.                  Experienced in Janitorial duties and the use of Janitorial equipment.

2.                  Possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.

3.                  High School Diploma or GED.

4.                  Must be able to read at a twelfth-grade level.

Reports To/Supervised By:               Director of Facilities

Responsibilities:

1.                  Clean rooms, kitchens, lavatories, drinking fountains, corridors, stairways, windows and other spaces by dusting, sweeping, scrubbing, washing, wet mopping, waxing, and using other approved cleaning techniques.

2.                  Collect and dispose of trash. Separate recycled office paper and corrugated cardboard, put in designated containers.

3.                  Operate equipment provided by the school to properly maintain the building and grounds including, but not limited to, snow removal.

4.                  Remove snow and ice from sidewalks and driveways, apply ice melt as required.

5.                  Replace light bulbs in assigned areas. Custodial employees will not change light bulbs at a height greater than ten (10) feet from the floor.

6.                  Do touch-up painting with a brush on walls and door/window frames less than ten (10) feet from the floor.

7.                  Perform room set-up for various occasions.

8.                  Empty rag containers daily.

Secondary/Related Responsibilities:

1.                  Notify Supervisor/Facilities Director in writing of any necessary repairs or malfunctions daily.

2.                  Check doors, windows, gates in designated areas to make sure they are secure.

3.                  Report any infrastructure equipment that is running after hours.

4.                  Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Supervisor/Facilities Director.
