Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to join the Audi Visual Division in Warsaw, IN.

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist serves as the primary EHS resource for the Warsaw facility while supporting the broader Audio Visual Division (AVD) EHS team across multiple manufacturing and operational sites, reporting to the EHS Manager.

This position partners with operations, maintenance, engineering, human resources, and site leadership to support environmental, health, and safety compliance, risk reduction, employee engagement, training, incident prevention, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role is responsible for helping maintain compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and company standards while promoting a positive and proactive safety culture.

In addition to supporting the Warsaw facility, this role collaborates with other members of the AVD EHS team on divisional initiatives, reporting requirements, management system activities, audits, investigations, and program deployment across assigned facilities. Some supported facilities may have dedicated site EHS personnel, requiring strong collaboration and partnership across the division.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on EHS professional who builds strong relationships, demonstrates sound judgment, maintains a visible presence within operations, and effectively balances regulatory requirements with business needs.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary EHS resource for the Warsaw facility and support assigned Audio Visual Division (AVD) facilities as part of the divisional EHS team.
  • Partner with employees, supervisors, and leadership to promote a positive safety culture, employee engagement, risk reduction, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, compliance audits, risk assessments, and management system evaluations to identify hazards and verify compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead or support incident, injury, and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis, corrective action development, implementation, and effectiveness verification.
  • Coordinate and deliver EHS training, emergency preparedness activities, contractor safety programs, and safety committee initiatives.
  • Support compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, state, local, and municipal environmental, health, and safety requirements.
  • Support environmental compliance programs including waste management, wastewater, stormwater, chemical management, air permitting, and regulatory reporting activities as assigned.
  • Collect, analyze, and communicate EHS performance metrics, trends, key performance indicators, and compliance reporting requirements.
  • Support development, implementation, standardization, and continuous improvement of EHS programs, procedures, and management systems across the division.
  • Track and support timely completion of corrective and preventive actions resulting from audits, inspections, incidents, assessments, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Operations, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental, health and safety, manufacturing operations, engineering, quality, maintenance, continuous improvement, or related industrial disciplines.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and manufacturing safety practices.
  • Experience conducting inspections, audits, investigations, training, or process improvement activities.
  • Experience supporting EHS management systems, corrective action processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to build cross-functional relationships, influence teams, and drive accountability in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze information, interpret requirements, prioritize competing responsibilities, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Experience supporting multiple manufacturing facilities or locations.
  • Experience with environmental compliance programs, regulatory reporting, and permit management.
  • Experience utilizing enterprise business systems, document control systems, records management processes, or electronic management systems to support compliance, reporting, and operational effectiveness.
  • Experience developing or improving standardized processes, reporting tools, dashboards, or management system documentation.
  • ASP, CSP, CHMM, OSHA certifications, or other related professional certifications.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or operational excellence environments.

Working Conditions

  • Combination of office, manufacturing, warehouse, and operational environments.
  • Frequent presence within active manufacturing and warehouse operations to conduct inspections, audits, investigations, training, and employee engagement activities.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, and move throughout facilities for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work safely in industrial environments.
  • May be exposed to noise, moving machinery, powered industrial vehicles, chemicals, and varying environmental conditions consistent with manufacturing operations.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.

Travel to division facilities as needed to support audits, training, investigations, projects, and divisional initiatives; generally less than 20%.
