Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Cashier to join our retail team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service, efficiently handle retail sales transactions, and maintain a welcoming environment for shoppers. This role requires strong communication skills, basic math proficiency, and familiarity with POS systems. Bilingual abilities and previous grocery store or retail experience are a plus. The Cashier will play a vital role in ensuring smooth store operations and enhancing the customer shopping experience.
Responsibilities
- Operate cash registers and POS systems accurately during retail transactions
- Handle cash, credit, and debit card payments with precision and integrity
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting shoppers, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries
- Upsell products and promote store promotions or product demos to increase sales
- Stock shelves, organize merchandise, and ensure displays are tidy and appealing
- Maintain accurate cash drawer handling and perform end-of-shift balancing
- Assist with merchandising efforts to enhance product visibility and store presentation
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth store operations
- Support supervising staff in managing customer flow during busy periods
Requirements
- Previous experience in retail sales, grocery stores, or cashiering preferred
- Familiarity with POS systems and retail math calculations
- Strong communication skills, including phone etiquette and bilingual abilities (preferred)
- Basic math skills for handling transactions and balancing cash drawers
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light physical tasks such as stocking or product demos
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly attitude
- Experience supervising or leading small teams is a plus but not required
- Knowledge of retail store product knowledge, merchandising, and sales techniques is advantageous
