Job Title: Massage Therapist
Reports To: Spa Director
Position Summary: The Massage Therapist is responsible for delivering exceptional, personalized bodywork and massage services that promote relaxation, stress relief, and overall wellness for each guest. This position requires professional skill, emotional intelligence, and attention to detail in a tranquil, guest-focused environment. The Massage Therapist must uphold the spa’s service standards, maintain a clean and organized workspace, and ensure every guest receives a safe, therapeutic, and memorable experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide a variety of massage and bodywork services by appointment, in accordance with spa protocols and state licensing guidelines.
• Customize each treatment to meet the guest’s individual needs, incorporating appropriate techniques and modalities.
• Conduct professional consultations to determine guest preferences, health conditions, and areas of concern.
• Maintain complete and accurate client histories, including contraindications and treatment notes.
• Evaluate clients to identify areas of tension, pain, or restricted movement, and adjust pressure and technique accordingly.
• Educate clients on home care, stretching, posture, and wellness practices to enhance the effectiveness of their treatments.
• Recommend appropriate service enhancements, add-ons, and future appointments to support ongoing client wellness.
• Maintain a clean, stocked, and well-prepared treatment room before and after every service.
• Uphold the spa’s standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and guest service excellence at all times.
• Communicate effectively with the Spa Director and team regarding scheduling, guest preferences, and product or supply needs.
• Adhere to all health, sanitation, and safety procedures in compliance with the Florida Department of Health regulations.
Qualifications and Requirements
• Must hold an active Florida Massage Therapy License in good standing.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and various massage modalities (Swedish, deep tissue, prenatal, etc.).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to adapt techniques to individual guest needs and preferences.
• Professional appearance and demeanor consistent with luxury spa standards.
• Must be punctual, reliable, and able to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
• Must maintain professional liability insurance.
Job Conditions
• Work is performed indoors in a calm, climate-controlled spa environment.
• Requires standing for extended periods, occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs), and repetitive hand and arm motions.
• Fast-paced environment behind the scenes with high guest volume and varying treatment schedules.
• Exposure to essential oils, body products, and aromatherapy scents is common.

Other Qualifications
Availability: Open and operational seven days a week. Employees may be asked to work longer days or over the weekend depending on business demand.
License Requirements: Valid driver’s license.

Language Skills: Must be able to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and standard operating procedures.
