The Master Plumber – Service Department Lead is responsible for overseeing all plumbing service calls, providing leadership to the plumbing service department, and ensuring exceptional customer service. This role performs high-level plumbing diagnostics, presents flat-rate pricing, completes repairs and replacements, estimates projects, orders materials, and collects payment upon completion of work.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Department Oversight
· Lead and mentor plumbing service technicians.
· Ensure all service work meets company standards and plumbing code requirements.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
Customer Service & Sales
· Present flat-rate pricing options clearly and confidently.
· Provide repair recommendations, replacement options, and upgrade suggestions.
· Collect payment upon completion of work.
· Communicate professionally with homeowners and builders.
Field Work & Technical Skills
· Perform diagnostic evaluations, repairs, replacements, and system upgrades.
· Complete add-on and quoted replacement jobs efficiently and to code.
· Document completed work including notes, photos, and materials.
Estimating & Material Procurement
· Estimate plumbing repair and replacement projects accurately.
· Order parts and specialty materials directly from suppliers.
· Maintain relationships with supply houses for timely procurement.
Administrative & Operational Duties
· Update work orders, pricing, and notes in the company CRM.
· Coordinate with dispatch and office staff for scheduling.
· Maintain proper inventory on the service vehicle.
Qualifications
· Active Master Plumber license (required).
· Minimum 5 years of plumbing service experience.
· Strong technical knowledge of plumbing systems.
· Leadership or senior technician experience preferred.
· Ability to estimate projects and present flat-rate pricing.
· Excellent communication and customer service skills.
· Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
· Professional, reliable, and self-motivated.
Compensation & Benefits
· Starting wage: $40–$45 per hour, depending on experience.
