Duties
- Provide daily care and feeding routines tailored to each species, ensuring optimal health and nutrition
- Monitor animal behavior and health status, promptly identifying signs of illness or distress
- Maintain detailed records of animal health, dietary intake, and behavioral observations
- Support habitat maintenance through horticultural activities and environmental enrichment strategies
- Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques while minimizing stress and promoting natural behaviors
- Ensure compliance with environmental laws and zoo policies to uphold safety standards and conservation goals
Experience
- Prior experience of leading a team of 5 or more people.
- Proven experience working as a zoo keeper or in a similar animal care role with a focus on a variety of reptile species including large snakes, large monitors, and crocodilians
- Hands-on experience with animal handling and restraint techniques
- Background in pet care or animal care that demonstrates compassion and attention to detail
- Skills in habitat management to support naturalistic environments
