Role Description The Real Estate Paralegal will support attorneys and exchange professionals in the preparation, review, and coordination of documentation related to 1031 exchanges and real estate transactions. Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting and organizing legal documents, assisting with due diligence, reviewing title commitments and policies, and coordinating with title companies, clients, and outside counsel. The role also involves monitoring transaction timelines, maintaining accurate files, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company procedures. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Melville, NY, requiring regular collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to facilitate smooth, timely closings and exchanges.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in legal document preparation, including drafting, formatting, and reviewing transaction and exchange-related documents.
- Experience performing due diligence for real estate transactions, such as reviewing contracts, reports, and supporting documentation.
- Knowledge of title insurance, including title commitments, policies, exceptions, and clearance of title issues.
- Familiarity with leases and commercial real estate matters, including property contracts, closing documents, and related agreements.
- Previous experience as a real estate paralegal, legal assistant, or similar role in a law firm, title company, or real estate services environment.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple transactions and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative approach when working with clients, attorneys, and colleagues.
- Proficiency with standard office software and document management systems; comfort learning specialized real estate or exchange platforms.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate preferred; relevant real estate or legal experience strongly valued.
