Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable and motivated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate is adaptable, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining exceptional patient and client care. This role is well suited for someone who takes initiative, values teamwork, and considers themselves a lifelong learner.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and technicians with examinations, treatments, and procedures for large and small animals
- Provide compassionate handling, fear free restraint, and care of patients to ensure safety and comfort
- Support daily hospital operations, including cleaning, stocking, and maintaining equipment and treatment areas
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and team members
- Receive incoming calls and provide knowledgeable advice concerning the care and treatment of animals including questions regarding hospital services, fees, and appropriate scheduling
- Participate actively in a team-based approach to patient care and hospital operations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous veterinary assistant experience preferred, but not required for the right candidate
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Demonstrated reliability, initiative, and a positive attitude
- Willingness to learn and grow within the profession
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, and restrain small animals as part of daily duties
- Assistance will be provided by other staff members for lifting animals over 40 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday
