Compensation: $20.00 Hourly

Job Summary:

• Maintain classroom attendance, class notes and daily point sheets along with performing other record-keeping functions designated by the classroom Teacher.
• Maintain structure and discipline in the alternative classroom setting.
• Assist with management and supervision of students in non-instructional settings.
• Utilize Agency learning center model of instruction under the guidance of the classroom Teacher to reinforce small group and individual academic activities with students.
• Participate and assist with large group activities, treatment team meetings, field trips, athletic events and special school wide activities.
• Use and reinforce the school -wide positive behavior support program with students.
• Individually guide students with independent enrichment and remedial work as assigned by the classroom Teacher.
• Participate in the organization, preparation and implementation of special events and programs sponsored by the school.
• Attend staff meetings as scheduled. Demonstrate teamwork, cooperation and courtesy in the workplace.
• Document significant incidents involving students utilizing Legacy Treatment Services Critical Incident and Restrictive Management Practice Report System.
• On an as-needed basis, serve as a 1:1 to provide individual academic, behavioral and social guidance/support to an assigned student.
• Perform all duties assigned by the principal.

• High School Diploma is required (an associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred).
• Knowledge of child growth and development.
• Knowledge of instructional strategies and appropriate classroom practices that support the successful implementation of the assigned student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).
• The ability to demonstrate required proficiencies in the curricular areas identified in the appropriate grade level New Jersey Core Content Standards.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• A valid New Jersey Driver’s License with a documented history of safe driving.
• Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. Citizenship or legal resident alien status.
