Position Summary
We have partnered with a local Cleveland University to help them find a Sourcing Manager to support and lead strategic sourcing initiatives across assigned categories. Reporting to the Director of Procurement – Research, this role will drive sourcing strategies, lead complex negotiations, manage supplier relationships, and support university stakeholders in achieving cost savings, efficiency, and continuity of supply.
This is a high-impact role with oversight of $20M in annual spend, partnering closely with campus leaders, procurement teams, legal, and external suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives, category strategies, and major procurement projects
- Manage RFPs/RFQs, e-sourcing events, and large-scale negotiations
- Deliver measurable cost savings through supplier negotiations and sourcing strategies
- Review, negotiate, and manage supplier contracts in partnership with Legal and Procurement leadership
- Recommend and manage best-in-class suppliers; build and sustain strategic supplier relationships
- Support and guide senior buyers and campus procurement partners
- Analyze market trends, supplier performance, and industry developments to mitigate risk and identify opportunities
- Maintain compliance with university policies, audit standards, and documentation requirements
- Utilize and support procurement systems (PeopleSoft preferred)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required (Advanced degree strongly preferred)
- 7–10 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply management
- Proven experience leading complex negotiations and managing high-dollar spend
- Strong contract review and supplier management experience
- Experience in higher education, research, or large complex organizations preferred
