What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Care Staff for Foster Children position at Legacy Ranch Children's Home?
Our Emergency Shelter and Children's Home is a non-profit organization that provides services to children in the conservatorship of CPS, licensed by TDFPS, while creating a loving family environment on a beautiful Ranch.
Legacy Ranch is looking for full-time, mission-minded Therapeutic Child Specialist/Direct Care staff to love and care for children that have been abused, neglected, and currently in the foster care system. Additionally we are seeking a compassionate, energetic, and responsible individuals to join our team dedicated to the care and development of children. The ideal candidate will be a proactive team player who can ensure a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for all children in our program.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Age 21 or older
Have reliable transportation and a drivers license
Able to pass background check and drug screening
Candidates must be able to lift, carry, and maneuver equipment and children weighing up to around 75 pounds with or without assistance.

- Advocate for children served and provide services, solutions and a wonderful home environment, which allows for equal opportunities and stabilization.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all personnel (including management), children within the home, and with the various case workers/agencies involved in the children's life.
- The ability to carry out multiple assignments with diligence and a positive attitude.
- This position requires high energy, attention to detail and adherence to policies and procedures.
- This position requires extended periods of standing, walking, and moving around throughout the day. It may also involve frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching to interact with children at their level.
- The ability to be physically active and respond quickly to dynamic and difficult situations which is essential for ensuring child safety.
Must have flexible schedule with availability to work mornings, afternoons, evening and weekend days required.
Job Responsibilities and
Duties:
The ideal candidate is joyful, gentle, patient, kind, active and teachable
- Oversee children assigned including creative play, activities, lots of outside play, attending church with children and other community activities and events
- Transport children in vehicles to visits and planned activities. Maintain daily and weekly notes all by with other required documentation
- Administer medication
- Maintain required training
- Helping care for our animals on site
- Actively supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities.
- Engage with children through play and structured activities to support their physical, emotional, and social development.
- Assist with daily routines, including prep/serve meals, snacks, and nap time.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment.
- Collaborate with other staff members and communicate effectively
