What are the responsibilities and job description for the Oral Surgery Assistant position at Legacy Oral & Facial Surgery?
The primary responsibility is to assist the oral surgeon in providing quality patient care using correct method of
passing surgery instruments to always maximize patient and staff safety. Facilitates services including blood
pressure, radiographs, charting all medical health histories, performing procedures in compliance with the oral surgery office.
Essential Duties:
- Prepares treatment room for patient by adhering to prescribed procedures and protocols
- Takes and records patient's vital signs such as blood pressure and respiration rate
- Assists surgeon with general anesthesia and intravenous sedation procedures
- During treatment, the assistant transfers surgical instruments to oral surgeon and prepares surgical
- dressings
- Monitors intravenous fluids and vital signs during and after the surgery procedure
- Takes dental radiographs, prepares prescriptions, maintains inventory of supplies in operatory
- Enters patients' treatment in the computer and prepares all consent forms regarding surgery and the use of
- anesthesia
- Gives patients post operative care instructions
- Maintains equipment and instruments by proper care, cleaning, and sterilization
- Adheres to office education and protocol
- Maintains patient confidentiality and conducts self in a professional manner
- Any other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with OSHA infection control policies
- Helps oral surgeon manage medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency kit, oxygen and other emergency supplies
Education and Experience Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of chair side experience , preferably in oral surgery, dental, and/or periodontics.
- Relevant experience in the dental , medical, or nursing field is preferred
Special Requirements, Certifications, and Licenses:
- DAI Certification.
- X-Ray Certification.
- CPR Certification.

Monday - Thursday 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Friday 7:30 AM - 2 pm
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $21.00 - $28.00 per hour
