Duties
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed health histories.
- Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions, botulinum toxin treatments, and other specialized therapies.
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks to document patient information meticulously.
- Coordinate and participate in diagnostic evaluations like laboratory tests, radiology procedures (CT scans, sonography), and catheterizations.
- Manage acute pain and chronic conditions through tailored treatment plans while ensuring aseptic techniques and infection control protocols are followed.
- Provide specialized care for diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, memory care patients, and hospice or palliative medicine cases.
- Support discharge planning, case management activities, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes in settings such as hospitals, clinics, assisted living facilities, or home care environments.
Skills
- Proven experience working with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with ICD-9/10 coding is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology to perform accurate patient assessments and interventions.
- Skilled in IV insertion, phlebotomy, suturing, tube feeding management, ventilator support, and sterile processing techniques.
- Excellent communication skills for triage assessments, patient education (including health coaching), and documentation compliance under HIPAA regulations.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations such as children (neonatal ventilators), seniors (geriatrics & memory care), or individuals with disabilities.
- Critical thinking skills for diagnostic evaluation and acute care decision-making in fast-paced environments like urgent care centers or hospital settings.
