Legacy House LLC is seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide individualized, community-based services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
As a DSP, you will support participants in achieving their Individual Program Plan (IPP) goals by promoting independence, community inclusion, self-advocacy, and daily living skills in integrated community settings. Services are provided throughout the community rather than in a facility, giving participants meaningful opportunities to learn, socialize, volunteer, and build life skills. Community-based DSP roles commonly emphasize transportation, community integration, life-skills coaching, and documentation in addition to person-centered support.
Responsibilities
- Provide person-centered support based on each participant’s Individual Program Plan (IPP)
- Transport participants to and from approved community activities using a company-approved or personal insured vehicle
- Support community integration and participation
- Teach independent living skills including:
- Money management
- Shopping
- Meal planning
- Cooking
- Cleaning
- Public transportation skills
- Time management
- Personal hygiene
- Encourage socialization and healthy relationships
- Support participants in volunteer opportunities and community activities
- Assist participants in achieving personal goals
- Promote participant rights, dignity, choice, and independence
- Ensure participant health and safety while in the community
- Complete daily documentation, progress notes, and incident reports accurately and on time
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and Title 17 requirements
- Attend required trainings and staff meetings
- Communicate professionally with supervisors, families, case managers, and regional center representatives as appropriate
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum age of 18
- Valid California Driver’s License
- Reliable vehicle
- Current automobile insurance
- Clean driving record
- Ability to pass DOJ/FBI Live Scan background check
- CPR/First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain)
- Excellent communication skills
- Reliable, compassionate, patient, and dependable
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred but not required

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
