Land Acquisition & GIS Specialist
Location: Hickory, NC (with travel across North Carolina & South Carolina)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $65,000 – $75,000 base performance bonuses

Mission for this Role
Drive Legacy Homes’ expansion by identifying, analyzing, and acquiring land opportunities that support new community development across North and South Carolina.
Key Responsibilities
- Research zoning codes, land conditions, and market trends to identify viable development sites.
- Utilize GIS mapping tools (ArcGIS, LandVision, Google Earth) and parcel data to evaluate land and infrastructure.
- Prepare feasibility and due diligence reports, including zoning, environmental, and utility analyses.
- Coordinate with planning departments, municipalities, and developers to ensure entitlement and compliance.
- Support land deal negotiations by preparing market comps, CMAs/GMAs, and project summaries.
- Maintain GIS databases to track land inventory and acquisition opportunities.
- Collaborate with leadership to produce quarterly market reports highlighting acquisition potential.
- Assist in coordinating surveys, plats, and CAD drawings for project planning and infrastructure layouts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Urban Planning, or related field.
- 3 years’ experience in land acquisition, site selection, or GIS-based land development.
- Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, LandVision, AutoCAD, and Google Earth.
- Strong understanding of zoning, entitlement, and land use regulations in NC & SC.
- Skilled in data analysis, market research, and feasibility reporting.
- Ability to interpret legal descriptions, plats, and survey data.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with municipal partners and brokers.
- Willingness to travel between Hickory, Raleigh, and Upstate SC.
