What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Girls' Wrestling Coach (2026-27 School Year) position at Legacy High School?
Legacy High School is seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable Head Girls' Wrestling Coach to lead and grow a competitive, character-driven wrestling program.
This individual will be responsible for developing student-athletes both on and off the mat while building a cohesive program that aligns with the school’s athletic department values. The Head Coach will play a key role in fostering collaboration across the entire wrestling community, including close coordination with the boys’ program and youth wrestling to ensure long-term program development and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and direct all aspects of the girls' wrestling program, including practices, competitions, and offseason development
- Develop and implement training programs that emphasize skill development, conditioning, sportsmanship, and academic accountability
- Build strong relationships with student-athletes, promoting leadership, discipline, and personal growth
- Coordinate and collaborate with the boys' wrestling coaching staff to align training philosophies, share resources, and strengthen the overall wrestling culture
- Actively engage with youth wrestling programs to build a consistent developmental pipeline and promote participation at all levels
- Monitor athlete academic progress and support eligibility requirements in coordination with school staff
- Organize team travel, equipment management, and scheduling in compliance with school and district policies
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, administration, and the community
- Promote the program through community outreach, youth camps, and offseason opportunities
- Ensure compliance with all state association, district, and school policies and regulations
Qualifications:
- Previous coaching experience in wrestling (head coaching experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of wrestling techniques, training methods, and competition strategy
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain a positive team culture
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes
- Ability to collaborate effectively with other coaches, programs, and community stakeholders
- Teaching certification or ability to obtain preferred (if applicable to district requirements)

- Experience working with or developing youth wrestling programs
- Ability to build program continuity from youth through high school levels

Additional Expectations:
The Head Girls' Wrestling Coach is expected to be an active contributor to the overall wrestling program at Legacy High School. This includes working in partnership with the boys program and youth wrestling organizations to create a unified vision, shared standards, and a sustainable pipeline of athletes. The goal is to develop a comprehensive wrestling program that supports success at all levels—from youth to varsity competition.
Please note - Coaches who hold a ND teaching license - wages are reportable to the North Dakota Teacher's Fund for Retirement (TFFR). The employee (coach) will contribute 11.75% of their salary and the District will contribute 12.75%.
