Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the multidisciplinary treatment team to support patient care in alignment with the treatment model of the unit.
- Administers prescribed nursing interventions under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Collects and documents patient data, including obtaining vital signs, as directed by RN.
- Assists with the transportation of patients throughout the hospital.
- Provides support with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as toileting, hygiene, physical transfers, and cleaning up bodily fluids as needed.
- Delivers comfort measures including patient positioning and providing additional blankets or pillows.
- Ensures patient safety through the use of ordered restraints, fall prevention strategies, and environmental hazard checks.
- Applies correct body mechanics during patient positioning, transfers, and ambulation.
- Performs basic clinical tasks such as EKGs, pulse oximetry placement, and point-of-care lab testing, as directed by RN.
- Assists with the discharge process, including reinforcing discharge instructions provided by the RN.
- Communicates clearly and professionally with patients, families, EMS, and hospital staff.
- Maintains a therapeutic and safe environment within the behavioral health milieu.
- Accurately documents significant behavioral observations and interactions in the patient's electronic medical record (EPIC) to support treatment progress.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Training or coursework in behavioral health field preferred.
- One year of clinical experience in a behavioral health setting or related experience required; two year’s preferred.
- Acute care experience preferred.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with ability to prioritize multiple assignments.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.
- BLS for Provider certification from the American Heart Association required.
