Position Description
We are looking for an experienced hydrogeologist for our growing team. We expect the candidate to conduct complex investigations and projects, delivering high-quality, client-focused solutions. This role is ideal for a hydrogeologist with 5-10 years of mining-related hydrogeology and/or geochemistry experience in all types of mining (e.g., hard-rock, surface, and underground).
Legacy is a new consulting firm, and it is expected that all employees will work together to produce high-quality services, routinely working on all aspects of projects from data review, conceptualization, and report writing. High motivation to help in all aspects of technical work with a relentless focus on delivering the best product to our clients is key. A high level of initiative and independence in being able to produce high quality products (analysis, modeling and report writing) are essential traits for succeeding in this role.
Typical work for this role would include the following:
- Manage and conduct field investigations and scientific testing,
- Analyze and interpret hydrogeologic, meteorologic, hydrologic, geologic, and geochemical data,
- Develop conceptual hydrogeologic and geochemical models,
- Develop groundwater flow, water quality, and contaminant transport models to predict past, current, and future conditions,
- Implement novel techniques in machine learning and statistical methods to analyze datasets,
- Interact with clients and regulators, and
- Prepare technical reports and presentations.
Required Qualifications:
- Over 5 years of hydrogeology, geochemistry, and/or hydrology expertise,
- Master's degree in hydrology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, geology, or related field,
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work in teams,
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills,
- Strong written and verbal communication skills,
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite,
- Proficiency in ArcGIS or related programs,
- Professional registration (P.G., P.H., or P.E.). or ability to work towards and obtain professional registration.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in the mining and/or water resources industry,
- Numerical groundwater model software such as MODFLOW, FEFLOW, Hydrus
- Inverse modeling using PEST, PEST or similar optimization software
- Coding - Python, C , MATLAB or other scripting languages
- Databases - MySQL, Access or other database software
- Water-balance software such as GoldSim,
- CAD and GIS software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, Rhino, ArcGIS, or QGIS).
- Geologic modeling software such as Leapfrog.
