What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grain Operations Team Lead position at Legacy Farmers Cooperative?
Legacy Farmers Cooperative is seeking a motivated Grain Operations Team Lead to help lead the daily operations of our Fostoria grain facility. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with grain operations experience who is ready to take the next step into leadership while remaining hands-on in day-to-day operations.
As the Team Lead, you'll work alongside the operations team, support the Location Manager, help develop employees, ensure safe and efficient grain handling, and provide outstanding service to our customers. You'll also serve as the operational leader when the Location Manager is away.
What You'll Do
- Lead by example while working alongside the grain operations team.
- Receive, load, unload, dry, condition, transfer, and store grain.
- Help maintain grain quality and inventory accuracy.
- Coordinate daily workflow and prioritize grain movement.
- Train, mentor, and support Grain Operations Associates and Specialists.
- Assist with employee scheduling, timecard reviews, performance feedback, and onboarding.
- Promote and enforce safe work practices, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Confined Space Entry (CSE) procedures.
- Perform preventative maintenance, housekeeping, and identify equipment concerns.
- Resolve customer concerns with professionalism and excellent customer service.
- Complete operational documentation, including inventory records, PM software (Antero), temperature monitoring, and railcar tracking.
- Obtain and maintain a Grain Grader's License and complete company leadership training.
What We're Looking For
- Previous grain operations experience required.
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Agricultural background preferred.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to assist at other Legacy Farmers Cooperative locations when needed.
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Climb ladders and work at elevated heights.
- Bend, kneel, squat, twist, and perform physical labor throughout the day.
- Work safely in and around grain bins, railcars, and grain handling equipment.
- Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
